From Asheville Regional Airport, take state highway 280 southwest and until it joins U.S. route 64 and climb 2,000 feet up onto the temperate Appalachian plateau.

If you’re flying into the larger Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport, take interstate 85 north out of town until it branches and becomes interstate 985 / U.S. route 23, which eventually climbs up onto the plateau and meanders into Highlands.
